FREEDOM, POSSIBILITY, VARIATION, EXPLORATION, DISCOVERY…
These are the words that come to mind when I think of my creative practice. I enjoy creating without limits and I don’t worry about the end result. My creative journey is about letting the art emerge from the process of freely exploring techniques and materials.
Currently, I am exploring abstraction with mixed media and collage. I am incorporating recycled corrugated cardboard, brown paper shopping bags, and junk mail in a layering process that involves both building up surface material and then peeling it away.
Journaling and book arts are passions that I continue to explore in my creative process.
I studied fine art as an undergrad at Norfolk State University in Norfolk Virginia. And in 2001 I completed my graduate studies at Norfolk State and Old Dominion Universities through their, at that time, joint MFA program.
